I am seeking information relating to the route design and installation methods of high voltage submarine cables. In particular, information relating to projects that are relatively short (less than 5kms), in shallow water (around 20metres), and traverse busy shipping lanes would be ideal although published info on projects that don't fit all of these parameters would also be of interest. Particular aspects of interest are: 1) Factors that influence aspects of the route design such as alignment, burying depth etc; 2) Are the cables usually installed in a single length or are a number of shorter lengths joined up? 3) The different types of plant and machinery used for such an installation? For example, are cable ships appropriate for a project of this magnitude? 4) The installation method and (time) rate of set up and installation; 5) Cable(s) size and configuration; 6) The range of depths that the cables were buried beneath the sea bed (and relating this back to equipment & installation method would be good); 7) A list and any links to similar projects; 8) Companies that provide design services for such a project in Australia / New Zealand; and 9) Companies that provide installation services for such a project in Australia / New Zealand. I look forward to your response." |
