Hello hooji-ga,
.
I found out from researching http://www.crucial.com
(a major online supplier of competively priced RAM)
.

Your Notebook NEC Ready 220T
http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.asp?Mfr%2BProductline=NEC%2BReady+Notebook&model=Ready+Notebook+220T&submit=Go
.
has the following memory requirements:
SDRAM, 66 Mhz, CL2, Non parity.
Maximum Memory: 128MB
Standard Memory: 32MB removable
Slots: 2 (2 banks of 1)
.
however....
! USER SHOULD NOT PERFORM UPGRADE !
.
I suggest you contact support at NEC USA (I assume you are in the
U.S.)
in the first instance to locate an authorised technician near you to
add the RAM to your notebook.
http://www.necus.com/support/
.
hope that helps you.
.
kind regards,
lot-ga

Hi, and thanks for posting your answer, however this is not
really what I was looking for. I am looking for specific
instructions on how to install the ram rather than the
statement that it should not be done by the end user.

This is the first time I have used the google answer service,
and I'm not sure if an answer can be "taken back", but I
think that would be appropriate in this case. I would like my
question to remain open in case someone has a specific answer.

Thanks,
Nathaniel

Hello hooji-ga
.

I feel sad : (
You should have asked me to clarify before rating the answer.
.
It said 'user should not perform upgrade', and acting responsibly, I
didn't advise you to do so.
.
However if you feel happy and are technically capable here are the
steps / instructions to take, provided without warranty or support:
.
Ready 220T, 330T, 340T and 360T Removal And Installation Of Memory
Removing SO-DIMM'S
.

1.	Close all files and power down the system.
2.	Removing Front Panel Cover
1.	Located at the front of the Notebook facing the display.
2.	Remove the 4 screws from the bottom of the Notebook.
3.	Lift the top panel up.
3.	Hard Drive Removal
1.	Unscrew front screw located on the hard drive shielding and front
panel housing.
2.	Lift hard drive straight up and out of the front panel housing.
4.	Unlock memory from the memory socket by pressing the two socket
latches outward.
5.	This should release memory from being securely locked down to
socket and allow memory to be pulled clean from socket.
.

Install SO-DIMM'S
.

1.	Make sure systems power is off.
2.	Insert SO-DIMM in the memory socket at a 45 degree angle.
3.	Once seeded into the socket, press down on free side of the
SO-DIMM'S until socket latches lock into place.

.
I hope that has now directly answered your question to your
satisfaction,
if not, please approach Google Answers for a refund of your fee.
.
kind regards,

Hello hooji-ga,

I thought I'd like to add, if it is a technician job to remove the
hard drive it 'might' take you a lot of time. The hard disk in my
laptop is not a user servicable part and to replace it was open heart
surgery operation lasting 4 hours take out and put in. pheww.

However the steps in removing the hard drive sound much easier than
the laptop I have.

I appreciate that some research was done for this answer, however the

I know it's not much help, but here's some basic info:
NEC ready computers and notebooks were actually manufactured by
Packard Bell NEC. (NEC built the NEC Versa notebooks and some Ready
Pro computers.)

PBNEC has stopped selling products in the US. They have farmed all
support out to:
http://www.priorityonesupport.com/

I might have been able to dig something else up, but the question has
been locked. I don't even know if this will post.
