I am not certain what you mean by "space related." Could this be what
you're looking for?

Are you looking for Willcox Dry Lake aka Lake Cochise?

http://www.nature.nps.gov/nnl/Registry/USA_Map/States/Arizona/NNL/WP/
The dry remnant of Pluvial Lake Cochise, with natural deposits that
contain a rich record of climatic effects and fossil pollen during the
pluvial periods of the Pleistocene. The largest "dry lake" in Arizona.

Hello again terry2-ga,

I'm wondering how you will know that someone has found the right dry
lake for you. I'm still pretty sure Willcox Lake/Playa is your answer.
I found some references to meteorites and space in the articles about
it. It's also a National Natural Landmark and was formerly used as a
bombing range -- Willcox Dry Lake Bombing Range.

Astronauts and cosmonauts looking from outer space are said to use the
Playa, barren as a distant planet, as a landmark. It is hostile to
wildlife, but rabbits, coyotes, huge beetles, swarming wasps and an
occasional mountain lion are seen there.

Willcox Playa
This giant lakebed south of Willcox is visible from I-10 and covers
50-60 square miles. The playa is usually dry, but after heavy rains it
becomes a shallow lake. You may see mirages on the surface in summer.
As many as 10,000 sandhill cranes and smaller numbers of ducks and
geese winter here from October to about late February.
