Question ID: 355752
The latestet update of Incredimail (which I have now completely
uninstalled) has changed systems settings on my pc which I cannot
undo. 1) For whatever reason I can no longer delete icons that are
placed on my desktop nor right-click to see properties. What happens
when I do this is that all icons disappear as well all icons in the
taskbar disappear and then slowly reload. 2) When I try to copy/delete
or look at properties of files using Windows Explorer or Powerdesk the
programs just shut down - I cannot do these actions. However, I can
drag and drop the files to the recycle bin for example, but I want to
restore my system to the full functioning of Windows Explorer. Does
anyone have and idea or solution for the problem?
In order to avoid duplication here is what I have tried so far but
nothing has worked: 1) System Restore to earlier date; 2) Run
Ad-aware, Spysweeper and Spy-bot; 3) Run Virus scanner (two different
programs) while System Restore was unabled.

(If my initial offer of $50.00 will not cover time expense, I am more
than happy to offer more provided a solution is found.)

Thanks for the suggestions. I had to reinstall XP completely since the
repair option did not work. I consider the case closed.

woah sounds like some bad news... do you get any error messages on
startup or shutdown? or any messages at all? also is your computer
bogged down with applications running in the taskbar? how fast is your
comp (hard drive, prossesor memory etc.) and what version of windows
are you running? if you would allow me to do a remote assistance on
your computer i can go in and see for myself.

no error messages on startup/shutdown - not sure whether it appears
longer than usual; no messages at all otherwise
do not have many applications running in the taskbar
I am running Window XP..(system has been running fine until the
incredimail incident) not sure how the remote assistance works but if
this would help, why not

Hi hoppere,

Two things to try if you haven't already -

1) HouseCall virus scan:
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

2) HijackThis (check for updates before running):
http://www.spychecker.com/program/hijackthis.html

Post your HijackThis log on the following forum:
Spyware and Hijackware Removal Support:

Good luck!

Did you try reinstall XP?
that might be a solution .
I guess some programs changed your registry.
You can try to edit it ,having started regedit.exe
there go to HKEY_LOCAL_MA... ..MICROSOFT\EXPLORER or smth like that.
