I am completely ignorant in SEO, and jut design my sites the way I
conceive of them. I believe I may have inadvertantly done something
to penalize my site, LearnHypnosisNow.com. The site used to come up
in the #1 position, but has slipped to the 40th page for these
searches: "learn hypnosis" and "ebook hypnosis". The site is still
ranked PR6 on the homepage.

What kinds of things are considered no-nos by search engines
(particularly Google, where most of my business has come from)? Does
my site break any of these rules? I don't use an SEO company because
I believe that most of them advocate cheating, which I won't do. I
simply want to display the information I have and want for it to come
up in its rightful place in the search results.

I am also willing to give a $5 tip for a list of five or more web
sites which have brief, actionable search engine optimization tips,
which are considered "legal" and not cheating, without having to read
hundreds of pages about SEO theory.

Greetings, liquidmirror!

Did you make changes to your home page (add or remove banners, links,
text, etc) between the #1 Ranking and when the ranking fell? If so,
what were they?

Regards,

No, the page has remained relatively static during that time. I
recently changed the navigation along the left to be better organized,
but that was just a few days ago.

Have you seen Google's Webmaster Guidelines?
   - ://www.google.com/webmasters/guidelines.html

Pay particular attention to the "Quality Guidelines - Specific Recommendations",
"Don't create multiple pages, subdomains, or domains
      with substantially duplicate content."
   - ://www.google.com/webmasters/guidelines.html

and then consider the following:

   - http://www.liquidmirror.com/learn-hypnosis-now.asp
   - http://www.learnhypnosisnow.com/clickbank/default.asp?hop=techweblog
   - http://www.learnadvancedhypnosisnow.com/

I was able to find those in one 15 minute search period, I suspect it
is a lot easier for Google to find "substantially" duplicate content.

That might be part of the problem.

I would increase meta tags, make them even more practical and
searchable. Differentiate your site from the others in any way you
can.

Hello

I looked at your site and found the following results
phrase learn hypnosis
density 2.43%
Prominence 68.36
which I think is less and you should increase the density of the
phrase to at least 5% and that can be achieved if you use CSS more.

Also one of the reason of slip off can be FFA. If you use FFA many
search engines dont like them.

Thanks
Shabbir Bhimani
