Aside from run for president, what did Ronald Reagan do in between his
terms as governor of California and president of the U.S.?

He was governor until Jan. 6, 1975, and ran for president in 1976 and
1980. But in between runs, he must've done something. Did he have
any jobs or positions?

Dear halphillips-ga;

Thank you for allowing me an opportunity to answer your interesting question.

By January 1975 when he stepped down as Governor, Ronald Reagan was
already relatively wealthy having retired as an actor, rancher and
Governor. The truth is, he didn?t need a formal job. In spite of this
however he maintained a professional office and was fairly busy as
evidenced by this interview by REASON MAGAZINE dated July 1975 in
which several references are made to his busy schedule and speaking
engagements. Here are a couple:

?Looking relaxed and healthy despite his 64 years and a hectic
schedule, Reagan welcomed us to his Los Angeles office on Wilshire
Boulevard and talked political philosophy with us for over an hour.?

?Governor Reagan, you have been quoted in the press as saying that
you?re doing a lot of speaking now on behalf of the philosophy of
conservatism and libertarianism.?

Aside from speaking engagements, Reagan also authored articles, like
this one for GUNS & AMMO in September 1975:

In addition, Ronald Regan was a prolific radio broadcaster:

?From 1975 to 1979, Reagan gave a daily syndicated radio broadcast, a
commentary on politics and policy. He gave over a thousand of these
commentaries. And as the contents of the boxes demonstrated, some 670
were written by Reagan alone, with no assistance. No speechwriters, no
ghostwriters, just Reagan.?

Of that time, his wife Nancy recalls:

?He worked a lot at home. I can see him sitting at his desk writing,
which he seemed to do all the time?I don?t ever remember Ronnie
sitting and watching television. I really don?t. I just don?t. When I
picture those days, it?s him sitting behind the desk in the bedroom,
working.?

I hope this provides some valuable insight into Mr. Reagan?s
professional life beyond Sacramento and before Washington.
