Question ID: 356351
My house is a traditional cape-cod style home built in 1934, located
in "Philadelphia Heights" which is on Philadelphia Road in Rosedale,
MD, just outside sout east Baltimore City in the county. I have
several questions about it, and if I can't get specific
answers perhaps people can point me out where to go to get them? For
one I'm curious as to WHO BUILT MY HOUSE. There are MANY like it
around my neighborhood and so I figure this can't be too hard to
figure out? Secondly, I'd also like to know why my house features, again, like
many in my area, a sort of plain looking square stained glass window
set into the side wall over the staircase? Surely there is some
significance to it in its design? It appears to be a simple
coat-of-arms. I'd like to know as much as possible about it. Why did
the builder feature it? Was this a popular feature in homes in
general built at that time (1930's), or just by this one particular
developer/builder? Does it have any other meaning/significance?

Marshella,

Being that the reseachers here and you can not exchange personal
information, such as an address of your home due to the rules and
restrictions (plus, it's just safer to not post an address on a public
forum)
http://answers.google.com/answers/faq.html#whatquestions
It would be quite hard to locate information on your specific home.
However, we can let you know how to go about locating the information
yourself. The only difference between the 2 answers would be that you
would physically have to locate a document and read it, instead of us
getting the document and writing out what it tells you.

Please let us, as reseachers, know how to proceed.

Oh, I forgot to add that what I read in Google's policies was that it
was inadvisable to post private information, not restricted. I would
be comfortable enough with giving the exact address via email to one
local researcher who is willing to go to the title office(or whatever
its called) to research for me. I just don't have the time during the
work week to go there myself.

Hello again,

We as reseachers are not allowed to habve any contact with clients
except through this site.
"4. Researchers are asked to not answer questions that contain or ask
for personal contact information"
http://answers.google.com/answers/faq.html#privacypolicy

We can not have any cxontact with you to get that information, and I
personally advise against putting it in a public forum, as it could
put you in danger. Since we can have no personal contact, there is no
way we could locate the records for you and get them to you, but we're
more than happy to tell you exactly how to get them yourself. Please
let us know how to proceed.

The answer is as simple as an afternoon at your County Assessor's
office, track back the title, and it will tell you who originally
developed or built it. The employees w/in the county offices are glad
to assist...

Thanks Nenna-Ga and cmiller-ga. I figured I could go find some
government place and look things up, but wasn't sure if the title
information would give me what I'm looking for. I was hoping, as I'm
in the "Philadelphia Heights" development that that would be enough
information to go on, along with when the house was built. I know its
a bit obscure but I guess I was hoping someone would have access to
some local newspaper announcement regarding the development or other
sales information. Or, a local researcher could track the title for
me. If someone local would be willing to do this, I can provide the
exact address via private email. Let me know, if you are local and can
do this for me, and I'll provide a comment with an email address I can
be reached at.
