I have bought an IBM ThinkPad R50 and installed Linux on it (Suse 9.1). I have noticed that the fan never stops spinning which is pretty disturbing because it makes a lot of noise. If I use Windows as operating system, the problem does not occur : the fan runs really rarely. I just would like to know how it would be possible to avoid the fan being turned on unnecessarily. I have noticed that on the IBM R40 the problem does not occur. Should I change something to the ACPI ? And if yes, how ? I have turned off the ACPI and used APM and it still runs unnecessarily. Note also that the same problem occurs with Suse 9.0. Thanks for the answer. |
