We're currently decorating our basement/rec-room. We're looking to
purchase either original 1940's/1950's animated neon "spectaculars" as
these signs were called or nice replicas of the same. Please direct us
to an antiques dealer carrying such merchandise or a company that
manufactures neon signs in that classic style. Thanks!

Hi wsg,

Would you please clarify if the neon signs must be animated? I've
been able to locate antique dealers, companies, and private sale
retro/classic/vintage neon signs for the gameroom. I've compiled a
large selection of gameroom neon signs for you - but mostly all of
them are not animated. They represent the 1940's and 1950's. Signs
for: diners, drive-in movies, beverages, gas, garage, drive in menu,
lit up barber poles, etc.

Thank you,
tlspiegel

Thanks for following up. It's the animation that makes the signs of
that era truly unique. Finding original or replica animated signage is
somewhat difficult. By "animated", I'm referring to additional tubes
that sometimes appear empty/unlighted, featuring a different scene or
pose and connected to an electrical relay to create an appearance of
motion.

And in response to the second post, thanks, but ebay carries lesser
examples of neon, primarily of the modern era.

Hi wsg,

Thank you for for your explanation. Perhaps another researcher will
be able to find those for you. :) Best of luck to you!
