In an old college paper I wrote on Seurat, I used: John Rewald's "Georges Seurat," Wittenborn and Co., 1943 Norma Broude's "Seurat in Perspective,: Prentice Hall, Inc. 1941 Roger Fry's "Seurat in Full Color," Phaidon Publishers, 1965 Got an A- on the paper with a notation "Good -- Your conclusion would have been exciting if you had traced the influences of Seurat up till now." I think I replied, "Bite me." Memory fades but I cited Rewald twice, so I guess he'd get my vote. Rather unscientifically, V |
