Question ID: 35799
I have a problem finding shoes in my size women's 4/4.5 that I can
wear casually, or to work, or to formal functions. Actually I can
find them, but they are never stylish. It's like the manufacturer's
assume that anyone with that small of a foot is over 65. I have not
had much luck searching online or in person for anything, (most stop
at size 5). I am resorting to having them imported via friends
traveling to Asia. If anyone can find something closer in the States,
I am willing to pay more than normal price for the shoes.

Hi,

The best site for you is SmallShoes!
http://www.geocities.com/FashionAvenue/Stage/8900/resources.html
The list and resources should make you a very happy woman!

Some of the stores they list are:

Cook and Love shoes start at size 4. You can call them at:
1-877-88-SHOES
(1-877-887-4637)but I think you would want to see the shoes before you
order.
The catalog can be ordered online. Most of the links are broken on
their site, but, luckily, this one works:
https://web.mcn.org/c/clshoe/mail.htm

Cinderella of Boston specializes in women's shoes from size 1 1/2 to
5! The site works well, the prices are very reasonable and styles are
very far from grandma's shoes.
http://www.cinderellaofboston.com/

and plenty of others including all of the ones listed in the comments.

They also list a conversion chart so you can check you size in foreign
made shoes.

Seems that a caring boyfriend was dating someone with size 2 1/2 feet
and decided to be nice and do a web site to ease the aching feet of
petite footed women.

Search terms used: custom made shoes small size 4

Happy shopping!

HI Troysigchi,

I am not approved to answer questions yet, so I am just putting what I
found in the comment area.

The following sites have shoes in size 4 and 4 1/2. I did see the
older looking shoes, but also saw some cutes ones also.

Another thing that you might want to try is shoes in children's sizes.
I have fairly small feet too, size 6, and have bought children's
shoes. Now days they are making a lot of the children's more adult
looking, and they are usually cheaper than the adult sizes.

My search strategy included women's shoes - size 4.

I hope you can find something that you like!!

Thanks for using Google Answers!

Dear troysigchi,
I think I have found a couple of solutions for you that don't
require a trip to Asia. I have listed several notable web retailers
as well as a physical store with a web presence. If these aren't to
your satisfaction you can search for yourself using the basic string I
used in Google: shoes women* "size 4" I've also given a couple of
ways to search within a few sites.

http://www.vintagedesignerclothing.com/shoesW.html#Size%204%201/2
I don’t know how you feel about "pre-owned" shoes though, and there's
only one pair of sandals.

http://www.petitefeet.com/1_size_4.html
Looks like a good selection of clogs, sandals, and dress shoes in
sizes 4 and 4.5. Prices are high, but there seems to be a sale going
on until July 5.

I’m sort of striking out on sneakers that don’t look granny-like, but
petite-feet.com offers this one: Heelys - Motion - Women's Casual
Shoe. Head to this page: (
http://www.petitefeet.com/1_size_4_page4.html ) and scroll down.

Shoes.com is offering this decent-looking, black, Naturalizer walking
shoe in size 4 at $29.99.
(http://www.shoes.com/product.asp?p=5000696%7E ) Additionally, doing
an "advanced search" there with "women" in the Keyword field and 4.0
as the Size seemed to turn up a good general selection.

http://www.dance4less.com/character_shoes.htm
"Character shoes" are offered ast this website, in sizes all the way
down to 3 and 1/2 (in medium width), 4 & 1/2 for narrow width. If
you’re not familiar with this type of shoe, they’re usually pretty
good for dancing (swing dancing etc), comfortable to walk around in.

If you want to actually look at the shoes before you buy, Nordstrom
offers a selection in size 4. ( http://store.nordstrom.com/ ). Set
the search only to look in women’s shoes – then type in size 4. Some
of them will be European or UK sizes, but I found a few dressy sandals
at the least. Of course, it's probably a good idea to call your local
Nordstrom shop to see if they have the shoe you want in stock before
you trek out there.

Hope this helps!

I often have the similar problem (Women's size 5-5 1/2 are not that
much easier to come by). It sounds strange, but I find that
children's shoes work very well. For dress shoes most dress sandal
companies (Birkenstock, Naot, etc.) stock a reasonable number of
designs in the children's sizes (you can also order from the company
down to European size 32 in most adult styles, an option that almost
every shoe store carrying those brands will offer). For non-fancy
shoes, like tennis shoes, snow boots, hiking boots, etc. I buy *boy's*
shoes (girl's shoes are, in general, less well-stocked, less durable
and less comfortable.) They're usually cheaper than the adult
equivalent and it is reasonably easy to find shoes that look just like
normal boots or shoes. For *formal* shoes (like heels) children's
shoes yield less luck, although there are some nice children's dress
shoes to be found.
On the web, using Google to search "Women's Shoes" "Size 4" I found
the following sites that look like they might be useful:
PetiteFeet: http://www.petitefeet.com/1_size_4.html (dress shoes,
primarily)
Most Mephisto shoes come in size 4:
http://www.happyfeet.com/mephisto/mephisto-womens-sandals-clogs.html
(sandals)
Small Shoes!: http://www.geocities.com/FashionAvenue/Stage/8900/resources.html
(links to a number of other sites)
Hope this helps!
