Who first said (provide citation) "Drainage is destiny?" I have attributed it to Benton MacKaye from the 1920s or '30s, or it could have been someone else in the Regional Planning Association of America (such as Lewis Mumford). Perhaps it was used in Survey Graphic or The Nation, two publications that carried pieces by RPAA members. There are a few recent (within the last two years) references, but these all originated with me and were not its origin. I'm looking for a published reference that would be before (and most probably well before) 1980. |
