I need a high-resolution version of the limecat[1] image for private,
non-commercial purposes (a gift). I would like to contact image owner
to ask if the high-resolution version of the image is available. Who
is the author/owner of that picture? A good answer would include name
and usable e-mail of the author.

A public link to a high-resolution version of the image would be an
even better answer, naturally. High-resolution is at least 300dpi
given a 5x7in print size.

Thank you.

Hello Shustr

The limecat.net image is a privately owned image and judging by the
message on the website they would like to keep it that way (or is that
just a great bit of viral marketing?).

To contact the owner of the website (and the image) you can conduct a
WHOIS search at http://www.networksolutions.com/en_US/whois/index.jhtml

This search provides an email address that further suggests that they
do not wish to be contacted which is backed up by the fact that they
have also given their contact details as "None". Because of this fact
I have not published this information here.

The whois search does reveal a legitimate looking address and contact
telephone number but I would stress again I do not think they wish to
be contacted.

Judging by the measures he has taken to stay anonymous I would hope
you would abide by his/her wishes.

If you are looking for a 300dpi copy of the limecat image you could
look here which seems to be what you are after:
http://www.drawingbook.net/limecat.jpg

There are also several other amusing limecat websites including a
spoof limecat/ipod mini one:
http://etudiant.epitech.net/~bret_a/limecat/

Limecat is always great for a laugh (but remember he is not pleased!).

If you have any further questions on this subject please ask for
clarification and I will do my best to help.

Hi Palitoy,

I was aware of the whois non-information (that's why I said "usable
e-mail address"). One could interpret that as the desire to decrease
spam rather that the desire to prohibit personal contact. Your
interpretation may be valid as well.

Regardless of the above, you have provided the image I asked for. I am
puzzled how you did it. The quality of the image matches the requested
quality exactly, and the image is located in an obscure place similar
to the oritinal one. There is no way one can "inflate" an image to
look good at a higher resolution, is there? I always thought that
quality "inflation" is not possible but that leaves only one
possibiity that you are actually the owner of the original image! Not
very likely either. Can you clarify how you got that image?

You do not have to answer this, of course. I accept your original answer.
But I hope you can give me more info.

Thank you.

No I am not the owner of limecat... honest!

Quality "inflation" is possible if the original image quality is good
enough and you know someone who is a whizz with Photoshop :-)

I simply contacted a friend who blew the image up in Photoshop by
altering the dpi to 300 and the image size to the size you requested.
I hope this was OK!
