I have received the following e-mail "UnsubscribeNow.org FWD: ADV: IMPORTANT: this email address is circulating... 6/2/2004 11:35 pm" which sounds like something which will prevent spam -- or it might be an invitation to loaddown a virus. I am afraid to open it. Does anybody know how reputable or unreputable the "UnsubscribeNow.org" is? |

Hello Vaac According to the Spamhaus.com website: "UnsubscribeNow.org is a protection racket scam run by spammers, UnsubscribeNow.org attempts to fleece naive Internet users $21.95 by sending out large volumes of spam to advertize that by paying $21.95 you won't get more spam from the likes of UnsubscribeNow.org" http://www.spamhaus.org/removelists.html This is backed up here: http://www.broadbandreports.com/forum/remark,9191766~mode=flat http://www.gamedev.net/community/forums/topic.asp?topic_id=219684 http://use.perl.org/comments.pl?sid=18756&cid=30980 http://www.broadbandreports.com/forum/remark,9452671~mode=flat I always use this as a general rule of thumb, if I do not know who the person is who sent the email I delete it. I hope you have found this answer helpful. If you have any further questions on this subject please ask for clarification and I will do all I can to help you. |
