Hi,
Your question focuses mainly on the programming interface that the
merchant account has, but I'm sure price is also concern. after a
brief search, I found a ranking chart of various cheap merchant
accounts ( http://www.the-merchant-account-advisor.com/cheap-merchant-accounts.html
) all of which accept the major credit cards. this chart doesn't
mention programming interfaces, so I'll put what I found below:
1. http://www.merchant-systems.com/
Has 5 lines of html to add to your website to enable transactions,
and some of the lowest fees on the chart I mentioned above.
2. http://e-merchantaccounts.net/
Has more options than you'd want me to detail here, including
Verisign and Authorize.net. I'd pick this one if I plan on starting
small and expect to grow gradually. They have options for under 1000
transactions a month, up to huge e-commerce sites.
3. http://www.1emerchant.com/e-commerce.html
I couldn't find details about this site's programming interfaces,
but they do have a module to plug data into the popular accounting
package, Quickbooks, so if you use quickbooks, I'd recommend looking
further into this company.
4. http://www.imarketing-agency.com/merchant/index.html/internet.html
This website was hard to find information on, wasn't very well
organized, I wouldn't recommend them.
5. http://www.creditcardcommerce.com/PaymentGateway.html
A similarly simple programming interface to no.1, but has some
extra features like PalmOS compatibility. Setup fees are a bit higher
than most.
6. http://www.merchantexpress.com/internet_credit_card_processing.htm
Handles all major cards, has 3 different options for real-time
card processing, each with various degrees of programming difficulty.
fees aren't the cheapest, but are reasonable.
7. http://www.merchant-accounts.com/rates.html
This site doesn't appear to support Discover card, and the setup
fees are a bit higher than some. Programming interface seems to have
a few different options of vary difficulty.
8. http://www.charge.com/home.shtml?
Has a lowest price guarantee, but I can't find an example of the
programming interface.
9. http://6e39438631e517c7ff661ecb92412044.www.aismedia.com/ecommerce/index.htm
Has low setup fees, and even accepts ATM cards. uses
Authorize.net interface. Either the Virtual Terminal or Web Terminal.
10. http://www.eccx.com/html/content/qc.shtml
Lots of features, tons of complexity with this one.
So, in conclusion, I think numbers 1,3, and 6 best meet your
requirements
