For Sporty 96, Although not being a doctor, I`ve had some experience
with swollen lymph glands and enlarged spleen. Diagnosis can be C.L.L.
Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, a cancer of the white blood cells. There
is a huge amount of information by qualified doctors available on the
I.net through C.L.L. A blood test will confirm or deny it. The red
bllod cells stay normal while the white cells escalate. It is
generally a "long term" ailment with only slight debilitating effects.
Dont hope it will go away. See your doctor.

sporty,

I don't have time to answer your question properly now, but please
disregard the comment above this one. Almost *any* symptom *could* be
a symptom of cancer, but usually it is not.

Your condition is probably NOT CLL. Don't panic. It is probably a
temporary viral infection. No one can tell you what your swollen lymph
nodes may indicate without more information, such as which lymph nodes
are swollen, how long, if you have a fever, your age, why you had a
splenectomy, etc. While some chronic and serious conditions can cause
swollen lymph nodes, your symptoms are common. Perhaps I or another
researcher can answer this soon.

Chronic lymphocytic leukemia is a serious blood disorder, with the
potential to be fatal. In all probability, you do not have cancer or
CLL.

for researcher Crabcakes. Your comments on my submission were a bit
out of order. I did not claim to be a doctor, a simple blood test will
confirm the indications of C.L.L., I did firmly recommend that sporty
96 see his doctor and although C.L.L. IS a serious blood disorder, or
cancer if you like, it can be long term, 5-10 year survival. The
doctors main diagnosis, apart from blood tests, is checking on swollen
lymph nodes in the neck and the size of the spleen. I should know, as
I`ve had it for five years. And if you think I`m fibbing, I`ll send
management a copy of my diagnosis.

Dont worry.
It may just be Infectious mononucleosis.

Your lymph nodes are your body's way of fighting infection. Infectious
material, ie pathogens circulate through your blood and the white
blood cells which fight against infection reside in your lymph nodes.
When you introduce your body to pathogens (viral or bacterial) your
white blood cells increase to fight it off. Your lymph nodes recycle
warn out white blood cells to rid your body of them. Your spleen
recycles blood cells which have been active for 120 days, or damaged.
An enlarged spleen can be a potentially serious condition, as if you
were to be hit in that area your spleen could burst. An enlarged
spleen is NOT a normal condition, however there are some illnesses
that can cause this such as Mono. See a doctor.

Before anyone responds, my information is factual. I am a nursing student.
