You can also stop by almost any RadioShack and pick up a CyberHome DVD
player -- one particular model is currently on sale for $39.99.

needs, and then find if a hack exists to make it region-free.  Search

There's a Fry's Electronics in Burbank which has boatloads of DVD
players - I was at the one in Manhattan Beach the other day - most
models aren't advertised as being multiregional, but you enter a code
(which can be found on the internet), and bam, they're universal...
