Hello,

You know all those programs, that can be docked to the right/left of
the screen. When this happens, if you maximize other windows they
don't 'expand' into that arae of the screen.

I am looking to simulate this behaviour, with a standalone software
that will allow me to define how much of the right side of my display
should be 'reserved'. A lot of programs, such as ICQ and Trillian, can
be docked like this. So there has to be a software that does this on
its own, right?

I don't care if the software is free or not. I can't find it myself
because I don't even know what kind of software it is, i.e under which
category it should fall. So I need help with that.

Many thanks,
Chen

Hi,

Do you need a program with which you can make every windows program /
window "always on top"? I believe that's what ICQ etc. does.

If that's what you, I can provide you with an answer.

Thanks,

Hello Paul,

Thank you for replying. I don't want to make a specific window "always
on top". What I want is that Windows XP will sort of 'reserve' some
space on the right side of my display, so I can place whatever
programs/links/icons I want in there, and other windows won't maximize
over that space. I don't want it to be always on top.

Thanks,
Chen

Hi,

Sorry, I am not able to help you with that. Maybe somebody else can though.

Good luck!

Hello, tubedogg-ga!

I'd like to know this as well. I found a link:
http://www.sanx.org/miscutils.asp that has code snippit of how to (in
the author's words) dock a window, but essentially it's an "Always on
top" and limits movements to the edge of the screen (you can't push
the window off the edge).

I found this http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&safe=off&selm=n%244g3JAXb3X0EwGK%40jcollins.demon.co.uk

search: api dock an application windows -mac

Maybe ask Microsoft as well. http://www.microsoft.com/msj/archive/S274.aspx
