Hi salem-ga, your question made me thirsty, but I did manage to resist the urge to head to a pub and instead found you an answer. Beer Travelers will come in handy for you. Most useful section is Beer Travelers - Quick Picks From The Beer Lovers Guide To The USA, from "The Beer Lovers Guide To The USA": http://www.beertravelers.com/picks/ This is a regional breakdown of the country with explanations of the best bars in all 50 states and should be just what the doctor ordered. Included are links to discussion forums about each state and reccommendations on local brews to seek out. The rest of the Beer Travelers site also provides suggestions about pubs that these experts particularly liked, so be sure to explore it extensively. "Historic taverns (and good beer)" by Daria Labinsky and Stan Hieronymus, All About Beer magazine (September 1996). http://www.allaboutbeer.com/beertravel/trips/historic.html Although only a few different locations, these are pubs as brimming with history as brews. For regional guides to the Great Lakes, Mid-Atlantic, and New England, check out "Beer Travels - Brewstraveler.com" SchoolHouse Communications (2001) http://www.brewstraveler.com/traveler.htm If you're still thirsty, check out "Best Bars Of America's guide to the best bars in the USA": http://barsofamerica.com/usa.html "The Beer Lover's Guide To The USA" is the definitive guide: http://beertravelers.com/lists/book.htm Good luck with future searches, and have a great trip! Hi salem, I worked on this question for quite some time last night, and was forced to stop working by the need for sleep. I had hoped to resume work this morning, as I had gotten quite far, but I see that someone else picked up the question. I have a list, including locations and websites (where available) of historic and/or famous bars/pubs/taverns for the following states: Alabama Alaska Arizona California Colorado Delaware Florida Illinois Louisiana Massachusetts Michigan Missouri Nevada New York Ohio Pennsylvania Rhode Island Washington Wisconsin Wyoming If you would like this (incomplete) list, please let me know, and I will post it here for you. If time permits during the next day or so, I will see how many others I can locate for you, but I'm afraid the majority of my attention must be on questions I'm working on actual Answers for, so I don't know how many others I can dig up. missy "will research for beer" -ga |

Missouri St. Louis - Blueberry Hill http://www.blueberryhill.com/ "The Guitar That Rocked The World" http://www.blueberryhill.com/guitar.htm "Pictured is the most influential Rock & Roll guitar in the world. It was with this Gibson ES-350T that Chuck Berry wrote, recorded and performed his great classics such as Sweet Little Sixteen, Memphis, Rock & Roll Music and Johnny B. Goode. A large exhibit of Chuck Berry memorabilia forms one of the many displays at Blueberry Hill, a popular pub and restaurant at 6504 Delmar in the University City Loop area of St. Louis, Missouri." |

Hi Salem-ga, When in Arizona why not travel to Tombstone which is located 70 miles south of Tucson. From Interstate 10, take Highway 80 south to Tombstone. Short Drives http://www.prescottaz.com/vircity/daytrip/tombstn.htm Two places to go are Big Nose Kate's and the Crystal Palace, which was once called the Golden Eagle Brewery and whose claim to fame is above the saloon the offices once included former Town Marshall Virgil Earp of O.K. Corral fame. tlspiegel-ga |

A bit more: Zagat Survey: By Popular Vote Top Old New York http://www.zagats.com/list/results.asp?LSID=5021&SBY=19&BRW=23&NDPH=Top+Old+NY&PG=1&PID=1&LID=14&VID=1 You might try Zagat for other cities as well. They generally have a "Most Popular" category for each city, and while most of the places listed are restaurants, they also have bars. |
