Hi there,

There are a number of culinary schools in California. Both the
California School of Culinary Arts
(http://www.houseofedu.com/csca/index.jsp or http://www.calchef.com/)
and the California Culinary Academy
(http://www.houseofedu.com/cca/index.jsp or http://www.baychef.com/)
offer bachelor's degree equivalents in the culinary arts. You have to
have a GED or equivalent to apply, and include some essays and an
interview in the application process. Both will allow you to complete
at least part of the application online (use the second link given for
each to get to the full info).

The Culinary Institute of America campus in California
(http://www.ciachef.edu/greystone/) offers certificate programs in
culinary arts to people who have already completed a BA program in
hospitality management. The CIA is a very highly regarded school.

You might find the reviews of culinary schools at these links helpful:

http://www.best-cooking-school-culinary-arts-schools-classes.com/

http://www.edinformatics.com/culinaryarts/culinaryschools.htm

I hope you find this information helpful! I found it by doing a
search of the Google directory for "culinary schools rating". Please
let me know if I can follow up on anything in this answer!

I just thought I'd mention that I once met a chef who was a "ten hat
chef," which is to say that he passed courses at ten of the world's
leading restaurant schools, some were in Paris, one or two in New
Orleans; I've never followed up on the info, it sounded unreal.
Anyway, he got burned out on cooking (temporarily probably), I met him
in an occupational exploration group, can you believe it? So, find out
which hat is in California, if this is your bag.

Although it isn't listed, it's well-publicized on TV:
