Is it legal to ask a friend who works for a cell phone company to use their internal system to look up a personal information on a their customers? Here's the senario, this person owns me over $1000. He has left town without a trace, no forward address or anything. Since I know the provider of his cell phone, I called my buddy who works in tech support for that cell provider and offered him $20 to get me the cell number. I'm sure my friend could get fired if caught, but is there any law he was breaking by helping me? Besides employer reprimands, is there any possible jailtime he could face if prosecuted? |

Most cell phone companies have strict policies about customer privacy. If the person you are looking for finds out how you got their information and sues the cell company there is a good chance your friend would not only be fired, but would be in some legal trouble with his ex-employer. forge |
