I've had a similiar problem and it turned out to be caused by a
corrupted picture database. There is an option that lets you rebuild
a new picture database from a directory tree somewhere on the file
menu. This is a VERY time consuming process (several hours in some
cases if you have a large number of pictures), but it did seem to
solve the problem for me. Also, I reommend downloading the latest
version of Zoombrowser from Canon's website. There are a lot of new
features and bug fixes.

Good luck!
