I'm looking for a resource that lists the annual sales for consumer
products or brands sold in the U.S. The information must include
annual retail sales by product category and/or brand name. Please do
not refer to or list research companies that provide services or
studies on individual industries (marketresearch.com), I need a
comprehensive listing of as many consumer product categories and/or
brands as possible. |

Hello Kirkm,
I located a 149 page report which contains estimates of the value of
product shipments in the United States in 2001. This report presents
manufacturing establishment statistics and was published in January
2003.
Here is an example of some products and their values.
------------------------------------------------------
Product Value of product shipments

Dog and cat food 9 272 524
Dog food 5 883 623
Cat food 3 210 441
Pickles and
other pickled products 1 273 655
Ice cream
and frozen desserts 6 540 380
Frozen bakery products 3 462 526
Peanut butter 781 601
Women?s footwear,
except 312 123
Pharmaceutical preparations,
for veterinary use 2 357 905
Paints and coatings 18 325 596
Toothpaste,
including gels and

Would this resource meet your needs?
Thanks,

Bobbie7,
The 'value of product shipment' sales is not acceptable since it is
not clear if those shipments include: a. export markets outside of the
U.S.; and b. are retail or wholesale dollar values. In addition, I
need the data in include imports (which may not be reflected in the
defined term 'shipments'). So the key thing to remember is that the
product category sales be U.S. retail or wholesale values during a
specific year (preferably 2003).

I know of two sources where you could purchase that information.
Would that suffice as an answer? I doubt the information you are
seeking is available for free because it is quite expensive to
collect.
Sincerely,
Wonko

I already know of sources when I can purchase the information, but
piece-meal and at a significant cost. This is what lead me to post
this question/request on Google. So the answer to your question is no,
simply providing the names of companies that would sell me the
information is not the complete answer or info that I need.
