Do you know whether his official first name is "Jeff" or "Jeffrey" (or
something else)? Do you know what the "B." stands for? Sometimes
stories about criminal cases use the full official name of the
defendant -- for example, Mark David Chapman.

The middle name is Brian, the first is just jeff, not jeffery.
The crime was committed in a Missori Town, seems like it was "Saint" somthing.
This is all the info I can remember.

Dear info4sims,

After a LOT of searching...

The details you were looking for can be found in this excerpt from an
article:

"7/19/1996 #Jeffrey Brian Ford, 24, 2721 S. 20th St., was sentenced to
prison Monday after pleading guilty to three felony charges in
connection with the shooting death on Dec. 23, 1995, of Colleen Porter
Hale at her home in Savannah, Mo.

Appearing before Circuit Judge Weldon C. Judah in Andrew County, Mr.
Ford was sentenced to 18 years in prison on a charge of involuntary
manslaughter, 12 years on a charge of armed criminal action and 12
years on a charge of second-degree burglary."

The full article is available for purchase from:
https://archive.stjoelive.com/interconnect/intercon.dll
I entered search term: "Jeffrey B. Ford" with end date 1/1/1997 - it
was article number 3.

Some other court information is available by searching the Missouri
Court records:
http://casenet.osca.state.mo.us/casenet/default.asp

Select “All of the Above” in the Circuit Courts popup menu

I searched by name Jeff B Ford (Jeffrey Ford surprisingly wasn’t
successful)
Filing 12/26/95 Case 05CR02950509
Charged with Involuntary Manslaughter and Burglary 2nd Degree

Filing 6/20/96 Case 05CR02960266
Charged with Involuntary Manlslaughter and unlawful use of weapon

Filing 2/28/96 Case 05CR03960001
Guilty plea to Burlary 2nd Degree
Judgement: costs assessed against defendant. Sentence to run
concurrently to sentence defendant is presently serving under
unrelated case. Credit given for time served. Date of offense:
November 21, 1995.

(My interpretation of this is that he was already serving time for the
involuntary manslaughter, however I could not find the guilty verdict
for this)

Records were found in the 5th Judicial Circuit: Andrew and Buchanan
counties

Do you know where the trial occurred? Chances are that articles from
that long ago aren't online anywhere, but you can probably go to a
newspaper office or library and look through the archives. I'd
suggest giving a call to the newspaper that might have covered the
trial and see if any editor or reporter there remembers it and can
give you more information.

Just for kicks, I searched two online newspaper databases (Lexis-Nexis
Academic Universe and Dow-Jones) and came up with nothing. I would
suggest that you try your local public library, perhaps their main
branch. Most national and (some local) newspapers are indexed. Your
library would be likely to have the print indexes there.
