Dear space_cowboy,

It would be very helpful if you could define what "exactly what I'm
looking for" means for you, to avoid dissatisfaction. What kinds of
searches do you want to perform? It is not possible to list
alternative sources for all the data Intelius offers because they do
not explicitly define the limits of their content (even Intelius can
only offer what has been made available in digital format yet). So I
would like to ask what kinds of searches you need, and to remind you
that, for example, criminal records are not available online for every
state of the USA, and this is also true for other kinds of public
records.

Regards,
Scriptor

space_cowboy-ga,

Unless you're prepared to spend several million dollars setting up the
type of business that Intelius runs, the short answer to your question
is...you probably can't find the same information they can.

There are many, many, many sources of information that are not readily
available to the public, but ARE available to certain businesses. The
best example is credit ratings. An individual can get his or her
individual credit rating. A realtor or bank can find out anyone's
credit rating. But you have to be a huge operation in order to buy,
license -- or compile -- the entire database of the credit ratings of
millions of people. Ditto for DMV records, real estate listings,
white and yellow pages, police records, etc. Intelius gests these
types of records. You can't!

Intelius not only gets access to these complete databases that are
off-limits to the Joe Schmoes of the world, but they also have built
the data management interface that allows the records from many
different sources to be cross-matched and compared. This takes a
substantial investment. An individual without very very deep pockets
just can't make it happen.

I don't mean to dash your ambitions, here. And who knows...perhaps
there's some secret means of access that I haven't stumbled across
yet. But I wanted to encourage you to rethink your question a bit,
and perhaps ask one that has a better chance of being answered.

All the best,

pafalafa-ga

No online service provides social security numbers to the general
public. Intelius may provide unlisted numbers if they appear in a
public record, but otherwise not.
