Hello 3846

As of this date the following states REQUIRE fingerprints on their
driving licenses:

California, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Texas and West Virginia (possibly optional)

All States APART FROM the following States require a digital photo:

Alaska, Kentucky, Nebraska, Nevada, Oklahoma, Washington State,
Vermont (optional). Missouri, North and South Carolina are exempt on
religious objections.

This information was gathered from the following sites which also
detail machine readable driving licenses:
http://www.networkusa.org/fingerprint/page4/fp-04-page4-winners-losers.html
http://www.mail-archive.com/politech@politechbot.com/msg01749.html

There are also a number of websites that are fighting against putting
biometric information onto the licenses such as this one:
http://www.networkusa.org/fingerprint.shtml

I hope this information was useful to you. Should you have any
further questions on this subject please ask for clarification and I
will do my best to help you out.

Hi, I live in Oklahoma, one of the states that you indicate did not
require fingerprinting or digital photo. My son renewed license two
months ago and they DID take his fingerprint for inclusion into the
license itself, and a digital photo!!!! I telephoned to complain and
they stated if I did'nt like it I could move to one the four or five
states that has resisted the governments policy changes. I asked what
states they were and she said she was not authorized to give out that
information. What the hell is going on in the USA??? Things must be
moving fast on this front, could you please recheck. Thank you,

Did you look at the other link too (the one without the table on)?
This has the most recent information collated together that I could
find (as well as many useful links):

http://lists.jammed.com/politech/2002/11/0064.html

There is also an incomplete list here:
http://www.atlantainfoguide.com/repeal/htmls/stadir.html

I will keep working on this but it is difficult to find anything
concrete as if there is no official line on the subject there will no
pages to say this!

The only further information I can find is this:
http://www.totse.com/en/bad_ideas/scams_and_rip_offs/dmv.html

I have checked the DMV of all 50 States and very few even mention
fingerprints or digital photographs on their sites.

I will keep looking for you today.
