I am looking for a source for a quantity of men's gray-on-gray (or
"grey-on-grey", depending on your location :-) striped regimental ties
for an organization to which I belong. I am seeking a high-quality tie
that would have an apparent "retail value" of $40 or more, but that I
can purchase in quantity for under $10. I've done a bit of searching
with the obvious keywords and have turned up quite few striped ties as
low as $5.99 (but not gray), and quite a few nice gray striped ties
(but not as low as $10).
The ideal answer would give me a number of sources for ties that meet
these criteria, each with a number of choices that I could view
online. A source(s) for places that could custom-make such ties in
such quantities at such a price would also be useful. But then again,
I'll take what I can get [grin]. |

Could you be a bit more specific about what type of tie you're looking
for? Would something that looks like this:

Qualify, or are you looking for finer grey lines? If possible, post a

Yes, that kind of tie would be acceptable (at the right price.) I'm
quite flexible, although it would be nice to have a choice. I would
*ideally* like to find a tie with large stripes of mid-gray and
light-blue with thin gold stripes as accents, but I realize that the
assignment is tough enough that I don't want to make it impossible
[grin]. I'll therefore take almost any kind of grey stripes, even
though the exact kind of tie I'm seeking is what's known as a
"regimental" tie (the kind that originally signified a specific
British or Scottish military regiment), such as the patterns at

Ooooh, that's good, and you're getting thisclose! If that site alone
were the answer, I would probably accept it and rate it with three
stars (since there's only one site and one choice). At least now you
(and everyone else) knows that the basic query is, indeed, answerable.
In order to go for the gold, however, I'd want to see some additional
options. But this one is a toughie, so I'll understand if you want to
