I would like to send an email from Microsoft Access 2000 (maybe 2002 later or now if it is the only option) using a Macro and a Query of a table. The table contains due dates and email addresses. The query lists those dates that are less than a week away. I would like to send an email to the address listed for each upcoming due date. I can send an email using the 'SendObject' Macro item, but I am unable to programmatically enter the address. For 20+ emails each time the macro is run, it is not practical to manually enter each email. Please help me make it automatic. A generous tip will be provided to a workable solution given by Wednesday 6/16/2004 at 11:59:59pm GMT. ;) Thank you for your attention. |

Ack! I know I could program this in PHP and MySql in seconds, or do what I proposed above and call it with a macro, but I don't think you can program a macro with values for that send object. I've been looking at modules and ... sheesh. There are so many different methods available to do what you want from outside Access, even having Access call it from a macro. I could use my favorite "Awk" on an export from a query, or an ODBC link to PHP or a macro through Word or possibly even through Outlook, perhaps, and each one would be seemless to access via the Macro RunCommand... The key is that the simple thing to do in PHP, forinstance: connect to the database get a result from a query loop through results send email to the appropriate recipients exit and return control to Access is something that web professionals do ALL the time. PHP (www.php.net) is free and *SO* powerful for this stuff. Likewise Perl, Python... It's so interesting that, in this case, it's very easy how to do something with free software that is a pain to implement in a GUI. Good coding to you! |
