Hi there,
I noticed that you said when you tried to download the driver using
Windows Update that AOL crashed. I take it you're trying to use AOL's
built in browser rather then Internet Explorer (IE)? Since the AOL
browser is likely the cause of your problem, I'd suggest that once you
connect to AOL to open up a IE browser window (Should be a link on
your desktop, or in your Start Menu. If not, click Start>Run and type
in "iexplore" without the quotes) and connect to the Windows Update
site using IE.
If that's not the cause of your problem, you can download the current
driver for your monitor directly from the NEC-Mitsubishi site at this
page: http://www.necmitsubishi.com/css/signedinf/signedinf.htm. The
file itself is http://support.necmitsubishi.com/signedinf/N-L185E.ZIP.
The instructions to install the monitor driver from the .zip file are
as follows:
Unzip the contents of the .zip file to any directory
Right-click on your desktop and click Properties
Click the Settings tab at the top and then click the Advanced button
Click the Monitor tab and then the Properties button
Click the Driver tab and the Update Driver button
Choose "Install from a list or specific location", click next, and
enter the path to the directory where you unzipped the files in the
space provided.
Click next and follow the rest of the wizard to finish installing the
driver.
The reason it might not appear to have the same name as the Windows
Update file is that the files that can be found on NEC's site don't
include the version number in their download link. However, it is
likely the same driver or even a newer one.
Hope that helps!
