Question ID: 360774
I am currently researching a circa 1905 grandfather (longcase) clock
and can't find anything about the manufacturer.

The only thing stamped on the movement is "Elite" and "PAA" above it
with a serial number (I assume) below it (90783).

I have also been lead to believe this is an American made clock, made
by the "Elite Clock Company".

But, I am basically finding nothing about this company.

Any help/info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Duane

A note to my colleagues:

This appears to be the clock described in the question

Please note this other clock. It is different on first sight, but look
at the clock's face: It's quite similar in design, especially the
digits. It also is attributed to a company named "Elite"; however
according to the text the manufacturer is European.

Here is yet another clock with a similar face. This time, it bears the
name of the American distributor, while only the clockwork is
attributed to the mysterious company "Elite":

And a fourth example for a clock with an "Elite" clockwork:

I believe that the clockworks were mass-produced by a European clock
factory, then shipped to the USA where they were combined with cases
that followed American taste. Shipping the movements only was far
cheaper and less troublesome then shipping complete clocks, and it was
easier for the American vendors to have customized cases made that
were at their customers' liking.
