Question ID: 361041
I would like to locate retailers (and the products) of products from
Chile that are being imported and retailed in the USA.

My interest is to find any unique and specialty items in the small
gift market (arts and crafts, semi-precious jewelry, specialty foods,
maybe? tshirts, scenic calendars from Chile, cultural music, etc).
Please, if you can think of any additional products please add them.

I have some knowledge of what Chile produces in arts and crafts, but
I'm not sure where to locate them. Those items would include minerals,
fossils, lapis lazuli (mined in Chile), copper, wood, leather, glass,
and anything made from them, like jewelry, wind chimes, high quality
wood products such as cutting boards, etc. Additional items might
include specialty food products, like smoked salmon and seafoods,
honey, jellies, and candies. Again, if you can think of any additional
products please add them.

I would like to obtain the complete contact information for both
offline and online retailers. For any offline sources, that would
include the contact info with the store name, mailing address,
phone#s, and store locations. For online retailers, I would like the
web site url, email, etc.

I would also like at least a brief summary and description of the
products being offered from both the offline and online retailers.

If you can't find offline retailers, please let me know. I don't know
of any specific retailers mentioning they have items from Chile, but
maybe there are some. I would hope you can find as many sources as
possible for the online retailers of Chilean products. I assume that
the online retailers are shipping these products from a USA location,
having already imported them into the States.

I already have in mind at least one more question related to this
topic, so if you can answer this one thoroughly, I will request you.
Thanks.

I raised the price to $30.

Please read my comment below.

I would like info for online retailers who are marketing Chilean
products in the USA. The specific products would be considered small
gift items, and you can read some of the earlier info to see what kind
of products I think might be found.

Thanks.

Thanks nenna-ga for those excellent sources for small crafts from
Chile. I also saw the jewelry items on those sites and that is great.
I was hoping to find a few more sources for copper and jewelry,
specifically, the lapiz lazuli and silver from Chile. Maybe there
aren't many online sources for those items?

Here is one example, but I'm not sure where they are shipping from, maybe Florida?

http://www.lapislazuliworld.com

Welcome to Lapis Lazuli World! We bring you our extensive collection
of handcrafted Sterling Silver and 18K gold lapis jewelry and
accessories. We are the proud representatives of this Chilean art
form, recognized around the world.

Would you be willing to search for a few more sources in those areas,
the copper and lapiz lazuli/silver? I appreciate the help.

Hello again,

I?ve found some beautiful on and offline stores in the USA that are
selling lapis lazuli with and without silver from Chile.

http://www.jegem.com/shop/search/default.asp?keyword=lapis%20jewelry

JEGem is a store that carries an imported line of the lapis from Chile.
?Welcome to JEGEM.com. You have arrived at the premier online store
for truly stunning gemstone jewelry. Our pieces are never mass
produced. Rather, each item in our collection is completely handmade,
piece by piece, with passion.
We love rare, unusual, and truly gorgeous gemstones. We also select
only the best quality gemstones that are perfect for the designs. Most
importantly, our prices are at least 50% to 70% below retail prices of
comparable quality jewelries.?
 They have items such as:

They all have lots of close up pictures and great descriptions. At
least 50 items available.

Next, Lapis Tree is a wonderful shop I found.
The Lapis Tree, Ltd.,
333 Washington Street,
Boston, MA 02108
Tel: 617-742-3443
E-mail: info@lapistree.com

You scroll your mouse over the picture, and it shows you a close up
and a number. The items are listed by number at the bottom of the
page.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

In addition, LapisLazuliWorld is a US business; I found this
information on their site for you.

?Lapis Lazuli World is owned by M and P Commercial Ltd, which is
located in trendy Downtown Miami and beautiful Santiago, Chile. We are
a family owned and operated business, specializing in imported Lapis
Lazuli jewelry from Chile. We have family members that live overseas
acting as agents who have close ties with craftsmen and manufacturers
and manage offshore sourcing, production, shipping and distribution on
the goods that come to the United States.?

?An eye-catching pendant made from polished dark marble and copper
inlay makes a bold statement. The brass bar-link chain has a secure
hook clasp. Each pendant is made by hand, by Jorge and Eliana
Sepulveda in Casas Viejas, Chile.

The Supelveda business began as a way for Jorge to pay his high school
fees, and has continued for two decades. They favour copper and brass
for their affordable availability, and technical compatibility. To
draw colours from the copper, they use a bath of salts and oxides, and
the colours are later sealed with varnish.

In the quiet studio in front of their home, the Sepulvedas have
created a signature style that is Chilean in origin, but global in its
bold appeal.?

?These elegant pendants are produced at the Caliope store in
Concepcion, Chile, which serves as a symbol of the ingenuity of modern
day women.

Two women, Beatriz and Marcela, own the workshop and store. Beatriz is
in charge of administration and Marcela is the craftswoman who creates
the jewelry designs. Their plans for the future are to set a record
for growth and export to many different countries.?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, check out this store?.I think you may find many items you like.
I?m not sure if it?s US based?.. They seem to maybe import to stores
in the US, but still sell from this site as well or?.??? However, the
point is they have a LOT of beautiful things from Chile nonetheless.

I really appreciated those last couple of sites you found,
pueblosdelsur and lapistree. There are some really attractive gifts
available. I like the high quality look. Thanks.

Just one more tiny request, please, and with this I'm done.

I was hoping to find more on copper items also. But again, if you
can't find anything, I accept that. I really thought there would be
more copper crafts or small gifts available(there are some and those
are nice). I'm just asking if you could give me one more final effort
to search for the copper items. Just let me know if that is possible.

Clarification of Answer by nenna-ga on 18 Jun 2004 19:11 PDT
Hello again,

I did a bit more searching around, and it seems the links I have given
you are about the only USA based Chilean copper jewelry resources I
could find. Any others that I found were not based in the USA or I
could not verify the jewelry was Chilean.

I'm glad we found as many as we did though for the other items. Thank
you again, you've been a pleasure to work with.

Sorry for the confusion. I'm not hard to please, nor do I wish to take
advantage of any researchers here at Google. I didn't and don't expect
an exhaustive answer, as it may appear from all the detail I added. I
was only trying to describe the items that might be found in searches
for Chilean products (in the small gift area) that are being retailed
in the USA.

Would it be fair to raise the original amount to $30.00, and with that
to leave off the offline retailer information?

Please let me know. Thanks.
