Hello Philg,

I have a couple places where you could do what you?re wanting to
search for. (Sell your art) I also have some tips and information on
how to do a search to find the information you?re looking for. (How to
use Google or another search engine to return listings for people
looking to buy...)

I could not find any specific dealers dealing in Marlene Dietrich or
Hans Flato specific merchandise. However, I did find a few places
where you could list that you have this for sale, or find someone to
sell it for you.

?how do I find a buyer for a hans flato drawing of marlene dietrich
using google or any other search engine??

First of all, you can always place an ad on a search engine that would
list your ad/website where the item was for sale.

For example, Google AdWords. You can have a listing that appears when
a certain keyword is typed into the engine. Such as "hans flato" or
"marline dietrich"

You can look here for an example:

To the top and to the right are ads for the search term I typed in
Japanese furnature.

"Also, with this program, Your ads show up on Google almost instantly.
Write your ads. Select your keywords. Set your budget. Start seeing results.
You choose where your ads appear. Changes are free. You have total
control over every aspect of your campaign."

You can find out more about Google Ad-Words here.
https://adwords.google.com/select/

So, that's one way to sell your art using a search engine.
----------------------------------------------------------

Now, if you're wanting to use the search engine to find places to sell
your art, let me show you a few I found and how I did it, so that you
can know this information for future reference.

By typing in "hans flato" into Google, I found this website about art
and him. I decided those were a good match for someone trying to find
about him and his art, and maybe there was a MSG board or something
for collecters/buyers/sellers to talk upon.
http://www.askart.com/bboard.asp
http://www.askart.com/auctionrecords/promotionalpage.asp?BEG=1&END=10&error=

This site lists a MSG board, and gives you information on auctions
that had his work listed if you're a member. This would be a good way
to list you had this art for sale and find people interested in it.
--------------------------------------------------------------

I also searched for Marlene Dietrich, and found a site that sells and
buys vintage movie memorabilia. You can email sig@movietreasures.com
to see if they are interested.

http://www.movietreasures.com/main/Marlene_Dietrich/marlene_dietrich.html
--------------------------------------------------------------

And, last but not least, you can use Ebay. I know it's technically not
a search engine, but, it is a listing of items for sale, that people
use an internal search engine to find what they want to buy.

http://search.ebay.com/marlene-dietrich_W0QQsofocusZbsQQsbrftogZ1QQfromZR10QQsosortpropertyZ1QQsosortorderZ1
http://search.ebay.com/hans-flato_W0QQsokeywordredirectZ1QQfromZR8
----------------------------------------------------------------
Now, let's talk about how instead of where.

Search engines operate on some pretty simple principles as a user. You
type in what you're looking for, and up pops a result...
For example, I used
Buy marlene dietrich
buy hans flato
sell hans flato
sell marlene dietrich
marlene dietrich collectors
hans flato collectors

...to find my information. I just told the search engine what I was looking for.

Now, you can get more technical as well
://www.google.com/help/refinesearch.html
://www.google.com/help/basics.html

Talks about refining a search. For example, if I wanted 2 things to
show up in a result, I would type
hans flato + marlene dietrich

If I wanted one thing left out of a search, I would type
hans flato - (that is a minus sign) whatever I wanted omitted.

So, say I wanted to look up information on the planet Saturn, and
didn?t want any results about the Saturn car. I would type?
Saturn ?car
?.into the search field.

So, There are some places to start, and some ideas on how to search
and get the results you want.

If this answer requires further explanation, please request
clarification before rating it, and I'll be happy to look into this
further.

Hi,
I think you did the best you could, but what I was looking for was
actual people/dealers for either Hans Flato or Marlene Dietrich. I
already tried most of the things you recommended using google. I spent
about 4 hours trying to find someone to no avail; that's when I called
you in.
Your other idea, of having buyers come to me rather than me to them is
something different. I need something very low cost, let's say 25
cents a day or less. Can you help me here? Namely placing my reference
so search engines can find them at a low cost? (I already use ebay,
etc).
Thanks,
Phil

Hello, I've gotten your clarification request. Give me a day or 2 to
see what I can come up with, and I'll post back here.

Hello again,

I have some places you may want to contact or try. It does not seem
there are any specific Flato or Dietrich dealers that either of us can
find, so I'm going to focus on having the buyers come to you, or
having someone locate a buyer for you through a webpage that deals in
merchandise.

First, I found 2 shops online that my be interested in selling your
item for you, or purchasing it and then selling it. I have not
contacted either one directly, but they both deal in Marlene Dietrich
merchandise..

http://www.galleryofhistory.com/html/chapter.asp?LOT=930#L930
http://www.galleryofhistory.com/html/galleryhome.asp

Gallery of History does an online auction 6 times a year. Collectors Paradise!
You can contact them at: gallerysales@galleryofhistory.com
US & Canada 1-800-GALLERY (1-800-425-5379)
International: 1-702-364-1000
Fax: 1-702-364-1285
-----------------------------------------

You may also want to try
http://www.historyforsale.com/

They also sell a lot of Marlene merchandise and may be interested in
what you have. Do a search on their site for her name, and you get at
least 20 results, from the 100's of dollers to the 1000's. You can
contact them at:

3601 West Sahara Avenue (Promenade Suite)
Las Vegas, Nevada 89102-5822
1-800-GALLERY (1-800-425-5379) or (702) 364-1000
Fax: (702) 364-1285
8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (PST) Monday - Friday
International Callers: (702) 364-1000
-------------------------------------------------

You mentioned you tried Ebay, have you tried Livedeal? It's a lot like
ebay, but it can match you with people interested in your area as
well. You can place an auction on there and see if you get any takers.

http://www.livedeal.com/SellController?zip=&rname=&action=sell
http://www.livedeal.com/index.jsp
--------------------------------------------------

I mentioned prior the Google AdWords. You mentioned your budget. With
AdWords, you can start an ad for as little as $5.00 and then pay per
click. So, you can set a limit on how much you'd like to spend per day
for you ad. I still think setting up an ad within your budget for the
keywords Hans Flato, Flato, and Marlene Dietrich, would get your
drawing sold very quickly. You would just have to put up a basic
webpage, which you could do for free at sites like:

http://www.webspawner.com/
http://www.freewebpages.org/
http://members.freewebs.com/
http://www.angelfire.lycos.com/

"In the Google AdWords program, the cost of your campaigns really
depends on you -- how much you are willing to pay and how well you
know your audience. It all boils down to knowing your own goals and
letting us know what they are.

There is a nominal, one-time activation fee for Google AdWords. After
that, you pay only for clicks on your AdWords ads, and you can control
that by telling us how much you are willing to pay per click and per
day.

For example, a new advertiser paying in USD can activate his/her
AdWords account with just US$5.00, and can then choose a maximum
cost-per-click (CPC) from US$0.05 - US$100. Daily budgets start as low
as 5 cents up to whatever limit he or she is comfortable spending."
--------------------------------------------------------

http://www.bidclix.com/AdvTop.html

Is a little more pricey, but is the same principle as AdWords.

"BidClix helps you expand your reach with carefully placed
contextually targeted ads. We can send thousands of interested
potential customers your way.
With over 30 million ads served per day, we zero in on the best
websites for you to advertise on"

You could definatly try that as well. I think it would serve you good,
though like I mentioned, they seem a bit more pricey.
--------------------------------------------------

I hope this helps you out further. I think these are all good places
to have the buyer come to you, as you mentioned you wanted in your
clarification. Once again, good luck on selling your drawing.

Hello Nenna-GA,
I see this answer/response shows up when I type in Hans Flato.
This is not something I really anticipated.
How do I turn this off, if I want to.

Also, if this is the case, why can't I just use a google
question/answer to advertise? It certainly would be low cost.

Philg-ga
