Please note that Cryptica is not an official Google Answers Researcher
(although I certainly wish she were).

Greetings, mnkyface!

According to The Futon Critic's Report for May 29-31, 2004, the pilot
was finished on December 16th, but it has not yet been picked up:
"category:pilots not yet ordered to series (2004-05 season)...
Paradise
production has been completed on a pilot for the series (12/16/03)"
http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache:2YmH7UiMS6YJ:66.51.173.18/cgi/gofuton.cgi%3Faction%3Dcharts%26network%3Dshowtime%26type%3Dpilots

It does not appear to have been added to their schedule (at least yet):
http://www.sho.com/site/series/home.do

Neither was I able to find any sign of a David Strathairn interview on
their website; however, they are most likely "saving" it until the
show actually gets scheduled.

Mnkyface -- and Aces!

Do we have another David Strathairn fan here? (Pinkfreud --and thanks
for the compliment, P! - -and I have already declared ourselves and I
think she will agree that the fan club be open to new members).
Here's the latest on PARADISE. It was filmed last summer as one of
several pilots. While it hasn't been given a green light as a series
-- at least not so far-- the pilot (movie length) is scheduled to air
on SHOWTIME this fall. While this may change, it looks now like it
will probably be in November.

I shot interviews on the set with the cast and writers and director
and as it gets nearer to the scheduled air date, that footage will be
used for behind-the-scenes pieces. Is there something specific you
wanted to know other than that?

Thank you SO much Cryptica! Yes, you could say I am a Strathairn fan.
My website is http://mnkyface1.tripod.com/. I'm glad to hear that
Showtime will air the Paradise pilot at least. Is this info from the
source itself- Showtime? Hopefully it gets picked up as a series.
Can I ask how you came to be in the position of interviewing Mr.
Strathairn? Thanks again!

That's quite a website, Mnkyface. (Aces, I'd never heard of "Futon
Critic" -- a new find!)

Mnkyface, yes, the info is from Showtime, but I suggest you NOT post
it yet on your site, since
this is still "tentative," not etched in stone. I work there, so when
there's true confirmation,
I'll be happy to add a P.S. here.

Mnkyface --

More info for you: PARADISE premieres on Sunday, November 21st at
8:30 pm, 7:30 Central.
If you go to http://www.sho.com, there's now a link to the air dates,
as well as some yummy
photos of Mr. Strathairn that you're going to love.

Also -- running now on and off during the breaks between movies and
series, is a 3 minute behind-the-scenes piece called "Paradise: Sho
Original," that has interviews with David (and the rest of the cast
and director and writers) talking about the character he plays,
Reverend Bobby Paradise and the life of a televangelist in our modern
age. (I wrote & produced this little piece, so hope you get to
come across it some time).

It's funny- I just happened to be looking at the Showtime website this
morning and found Paradise (double meaning there), about an hour
before you posted this. Of course, I loved the photos. The show
looks fairly David-centric, which is always welcome :) Do you have
any info as to why the show was not picked up as a series? Thanks for
the update and I will stay tuned to Showtime hoping to catch your
interview segments!
