My 1988 buick century starts up but dies after 10-20 seconds, acting as if it is outta gas. I ran outta gas the day before but drove it 10 miles before it started not wanting to run.Gas does squirt outta (bleeder valve?)when i open it while turning engine over.Do I need to buy a part or is it something that needs to be cleaned? thankyou. |

Had the same problem with my 76 buick century. For me, when I ran out of gas, the sediment in the bottom of the tank got sucked into the fuel line/system causing a blockage similar to when your home plumbing gets blocked. I had to have it flushed. That solved the problem for me. After 25 years, there's a lot of sediment in your tank, so I don't suggest letting it get below 1/4 tank in the future. Hope this helps. |

I suspect that your fuel pump may no be supplying enough pressure to run the engine. The only way to check that is to buy or rent a fuel pressure guage or take it to a shop. it's hard to diagnose a problem like that without more info and being so far away! |
