I had a hard time locating any information through GE about a Handheld
CB Transceiver model 3-5979. However, in the end, and a few email and
calls later, I hit the jackpot.

You can get a  manual for that model from www.thomsonservice.com

They handle most manuals for the GE company. I went to the webpage,
and searched for your instruction book using the "Instruction Book"
link on the left hand side, and then entering the 5 digit model number
"35979".

It then linked me to a PDF file for the manual for that model than you
can print off for you personal needs or review online.
