Settle a dispute for me please. I have a friend who is an ex-Marine,
who says that all F-18 pilots are Marines. I disagree, I believe the
Marines recruit and train their pilots and the Navy recruits and
trains their pilots. I also believe that the Marine pilots primary job
is close air support of Marine ground troops and targets, while the
Navy's role is larger and includes ground support as well as carrier
defense and an expanded air to air role. Can you also tell me how many
F-18 qualified pilots there are in each service?
