I am looking for images of ferries which might be reflect the appearance of the ferry which Vasudeva used in Hesse's book Siddhartha. These would best be paintings in color. I want to build a boat to look like this - one that might hold 2-4 people. I just need ideas and the more the better. Can you give me some on-line sources, catalogues, museums. Thanks. |

The 1972 Conrad Rook film "Siddhartha" is the movie version of Hesse's book. It is a beautiful movie that was filmed partially or in its entirety on a Maharaja's estate in India. The film is one of the finest screen portrayals of rural Asian life I have ever seen. The ferry plays a prominent role in the film and should provide you with an excellent model from which to work.
