Hi. I know most major airlines provide "Special Services" or
something similarly named. This service is basically to provide VIP
treatment to, well, VIPs. Greeting their car, priority check through,
escorting them to the gate, etc. I am NOT talking about regular first
class and/or handicapped/dog/etc access.

Question is: how does a "normal" human being get treated like that?
Is it available for "purchase"? If so... what would one expect to
pay, and how do you go about arranging it?

Thanks in advance,

Scary

Howdy, Scary!

Does this sound like the kind of VIP service you're looking for?

Here's an example:

If this is what you're seeking, could you tell me which airlines and
which airports are of greatest interest to you so that I can target my
search?

ah, the ubiquitous pinkfreud, greetings.
My focus is primarily on the flight experience itself, provided by the
carrier, starting and stopping at the airport. The forbes article
seemed to refer to services more extraneous; however the continental
link seemed to be exactly what I was looking for.

In particular, American Airlines and Air Canada are the carriers I
prefer; and LAX and Toronto, Canada (YYZ) the airports. I'd add Las
Vegas, but those amenities are readily provided by the casinos.

Again, thank you.

Hey scaryberry:

The closest thing that Air Canada offers, is their Concierge Service
for Aeroplan SuperElite members and Executive First ticket holders.
American Airlines used to provide enhanced assistance services to
their AAdvantage Executive Platinum members, but have scaled back on
these services given their general roll-back of service levels across
the board.

The Air Canada Concierge Service is targeted towards providing
enhanced arrivals services such as fast-tracking Customs clearance,
taking care of hotel bookings, etc. It doesn't look like they provide
departure-side services, though. They are going through their own
viability issues, after all...

Perhaps you can clarify for me if there is sufficient information that
you wish to learn about the Air Canada Concierge Service such that I
can provide it in the form of an Answer?

Hi... I think the answers seem more to be drifting into "whats
publicly available" rather than "how do you get what is typically only
available for VIPs?". Before we get into that (which is probably
available on the websites, easily found), I'd like to get a statement
like, "No, regular humans cannot buy "star" treatment". I'm guessing
the researcher would have to have travel agent experience and/or
personal experience with the services in order to answer it.

Sorry for being difficult.

Thanks for the clarification! Like my colleague pinkfreud, I too will
take a step back to see if any of my fellow Researchers who are better
connected in the travel industry can uncover this gem for you.

I'll accept as an answer whatever you can find on AC and AA.

Thanks,

Scary,

I haven't found anything on American Airlines or Air Canada that seems
to be equivalent to Continental's BusinessFirst service. I'm unlocking
your question to give my colleagues a shot at this. Travel-related
info is not my strong suit, I'm afraid. I am a hick from the sticks
for whom a trip to Wal-Mart is a big event. ;-)
