I am looking for a high resolution digital surveillance system. The requirements are: - Digital harddisk recording (standalone or pc-based) - Minimum 4 inputs - should be scalable - needs support for connecting different kind of cameras (such as normal light, low light) - needs playback, seek and zoom-in function for recorded content (simultaneous to recording of course). Best would be client-access software from pc's over network. -> Requires HIGH-resolution recording so that as many details as possible are visible during zoom-in. Quality needs to exceed pal/ntsc resolution. Might require and can run with LAN-cameras, as regular cable-fbas-cameras only support tv resolution (as I guess). Must record high-res with >= 5 frames per second. |

Marcelsci, The Higher Resolution 1.0 MegaPixel and above is the direction the surveillance industry is moving...however at this time, it is still unavailable. The IP cameras that you are mentioning are not generally recommended, due to the compression that takes place in the camera. Most of these cameras will reduce the Raw analog video into a MJPEG format, which generally reduces the quality, for less network overhead while travelling over a network. This amounts to lower quality video. (remnants and stereotypical jpeg compression woes). Even after the Higher Resolution Cameras are produced, the video capture world is not ready. We work closely with many of the foremost providers of CCTV capture cards, and even the latest offerings from each manufacturer, are limited to just over 640x480 capture(NTSC). To compensate, you might use a good high-Resolution CS mount camera, and have it zoomed in to what you need to see, then use a few more cameras. I would recommend our Alnet Style software, as it has the most remote access features (Client software, IE Remote Viewing, PDA Remote Viewing, Cell-Phone Remote Viewing).
