As treatment for prostate cancer I was treated with brachytherapy
(implantation of radioactive thallium seeds) and 3 month later
externial radiation for 5 weeks. Since the 5-th or 10-th before the
last treatment I have general discomfort in the genital area and a
constant urge to urinate. the urologist claims that I emty the bladder
completely and the discomfort is due to radiation irritation of the
prostate and will go away in 3 to 6 months. 3 to 6 month is along
time! The oncologist thinks it will go away sooner and prescribed
phenazopyridine 200 mg twice daily, This does not help! He now
prescribed aleve which I have not tried yet. In the mean time I am
miserable and if anybody out there has been thru a similar situation
or has a suggestion I would appreciate to hear.

3 - 6 months is NOT a long time and I suggest that you should try to
be a patient patient.

I certainly would not try ANYTHING else because it might conflict with
your existing medication.

I don't have ANY medical qualifications but that's my view.

Hope you get well again real soon.

All the Best

First: I'm not a real doctor, I don't know much about nothin. So you
should do you're own due diligence on this.

a.) the aleve is nothing more than an antiinflammatory. It may help
if you have inflammation pushing against your bladder and that's
what's making you want to pee.

b.) have you tried cranberry juice? commonly used for people with
urinary tract infections, something magic about it soothes irritation.
Might be worth a $2.99 a bottle try.

c.) have faith in your oncologist, and if you're not getting relief,
keep telling your doctor and get what you're paying for--appropriate
medical care.

I feel bad for you.
I have heard the stories..

I have prostate problems as well. My doctor wanted to remove mine and
all the nerves over 2 years ago. After several consultations, I told
him goodbye!

I have been on herbs since but now I am having the problem of always
feeling like I need to go pee. What a pain. The aleve, like advill
does help with the awful feeling of needing to go. I do however get
relief when I do visit the bathroom.

Try 3 advill, softgels at a time and see if that helps you.
