In Germany, at the Wartburg castle near Eisenach, there are some
amazingly beautiful mosaics depicting the life of St. Elizabeth. They
date from the turn of the 20th century. I found one terrible photo
online: http://www2.carthage.edu/~rom/reftrip/jb/ladies.html

Where can I find high quality pictures of these mosaics? I'd be happy
with a book title (particularly if it's in print) or a web site with
good photos. I tried the tourist gift shop at Wartburg, no luck.

Hi nelsonm,

The following are some pictures of mosaics depicting the life of St.
Elizabeth located in Wartburg castle:

Elisabethkemenate, with colourful mosaics, which describe szenisch the
life of holy Elizabeth.

At the following site, click on the magnifier to enlarge the photograph.

Wartburg-Eisenach.
http://www.wartburg-eisenach.de/deutsch/rundgang/kemenate.htm

Alternatively, at the above site, when you click on the arrowed
circle, a panoramic view will be displayed. Clicking on the magnifier
will stop the panorama where you want, and will then enlarge (as much
as you want) a still photograph of the room.

Thanks for the answer: the panorama you found is pretty good. I was
hoping to find something more detailed / staged, like you'd find in an
art history book. But there may simply not be any.

Hi nelsonm,
After several hours of research, I have not been able to find anything
more detailed than what I have previously posted.
All the best,
