Dear Salibat, Thank you for the comment, that explained what I wanted to do. Kaffeesahne (one word, but pronounced as you have - as two words) is in fact a sort of condensed milk. Traditionally with no less than 10% fat, nowadays low-fat versions are made (through pasteurization). (See, in German, the Lebensmittellexicon, <http://www.lebensmittellexikon.de/index.html?http://www.lebensmittellexikon.de/k0000160.php>). It is of coruse hugely popular in Germany and in the German speaking regions (such as Austria, Switzerland), but it seems rather difficult to find an English-language site that ships to the United States. Lila-Se.de have Baeren Marke coffee cream <http://www.lila-se.de/shop-en/products/milk/index.html> (The light blue sort is fatt-reduced). The German Grocery <http://www.german-grocery.com/> has two types of this sort of milk, only in cans, though, Gluecksklee and Baeren Marke <http://www.german-grocery.com/shop/pi1866647639_3-tea-coffee-cocoa.htm?categoryId=25> I hope this answered your question. If you could read and order from German sites, please let me know - some of them have international orders. Please contact me if you need any further ckarification on this answer before you rate it. Search strategy: searching for the term [kaffeesahne], even with limitation of the results to English pages only, was not successful. I searched for [german groceries] and searched in the stores that came up. |

Kaffee Sahne means coffee with cream in german and is not a product name , I am sorry but there are numerous german/european coffee creamers and it is impossible to narrow it down |

Sorry corwin-ga, but you comment is misleading. Kaffesahne does not mean coffee with cream in german. Kaffesahne is a milk based liquid which you can put in your coffee. Sure itīt not a brand name but the name of a product group. till-ga |

Hello: I am a Translator/Researcher and native speaker of German. I thought it would be helpful to add that KAFFE SAHNE means coffee cream in German. There are many different types of this type of product. In investigating this, I found a great site that offers a wide array of German products (available for purchase online). Unfortunately, I was not able to find any kaffe sahne on this site. I thought I'd add it anyway as it offers a good example of what type of site (or service) you may find useful in your hunt. http://www.germandeli.com/ I hope you find this information helpful. The name Kaffee Sahne refers a brand that we used in the late '80s while I was living in Frankfurt. It was a dark creamer, (high in fett content) and was served in hotels. I am not particular as to which brand. I am just looking for a product that I can purchase in the USA (or import) for personal consumption. |
