Question ID: 363398
I run Windows ME on my home computer. I cannot use Internet Explorer
to access my Outlook Web Access account. A friend suggested that he
had this difficulty, and then further suggested that I install
Netscape. He claimed I would have no difficulty connecting. And man,
he was right!

Problem is, I now have three browsers on my computer. How can I
resolve whatever issue this is with ME, IE6, and Outlook Web Access?

Thanks.

Hello mrrealestate,
Could you please be more specific about this issue? What kind of
problem you are facing while accessing Outlook via IE? Any errors?

Let me know.

Thanks

Dear Netcrazy-

Specifically in IE, after I am prompted for my User name and password
for Outlook Web Access, it simply returns the same page asking me to
log in. Whereas, in Netscape I put in the URL for my page and once
prompted for my Username and password I am logged in. There are no
specific error messages. Nothing that looks like a Windows error.
Nothing that lets me know that I have not been logged in, other than
the fact that I am not logged in.

Seems strange that both my friend and I have WinME and have had the
same problem. At my office, I use Win98 and XP, and there is not a
problem. Hope this helps.

It seems like a problem with your cookie setup on IE.

I'd like you to do the following to make sure that cookies are properly setup.

Open IE and click on Tools/Internet Options. Click on Privacy Tab and
then on Default Button to make sure that all the settings are set to
default. Also click on Advanced tab and make sure that First and Third
party cookies option is enabled.
After this, restart your browser and try accessing the Outlook.

Check these sites for cookies and Browser issue with cookie setup -

Okay-

I tried the first idea of enabling cookies, using the exact
instructions provided. Nothing.

I need some clarification on the next idea, as there are a few Java options.

When I go to Tools, Advanced, I see the following boxes to check:

Java (Sun)- Use Java, etc...

and,

Microsoft VM

    * Java Console Enabled
    * Java logging enabled
    * JIT compiler for virtual machine enabled

Should all/none of these be checked? And what are the ramifications of
altering the status of these default settings?

Thanks.
