I would like to get data to build a computer part product comparison site.

For each monitor, I would like to know things like: screen size,
maximum resolution, refresh rate etc.
For cpu speed, slot type, l1 cache etc.
for digital cameras, resolution, min/max
motherboards: memory, FSB, socket, chipset, ata,....

So the basic "technical specs" for each of the components of a computer.

Free data is what I'm looking for, although would consider commercial
company if price is right. (I'm already contacting activedecisions and gartner, but
I am unsure if they will have what I need, and probably will be far too expensive).

I don't understand why you can't get this information from any
vendor's product information page(s)...

Are you looking for a database of all vendors' equipment?

Yes, the data can come from the manufacturers site.
But to enter it is slow and tedious. I want the information for
over 1000 products. and certainly a lot more as time goes on.

So, I'm looking for aggregated data, where you could compare the
products across different manufacturers.

thanks,
Cameron
