I just got a new COMPAQ with windows XP OS and I'm trying to dowload
the drivers for the Hewlet Packard officejet v40 into it, because when
I put the CD that came with the printer in to load i get this pop-up
screen that says that "Installation not supported for win. 5.1-5.2-5.3

I'm sorry you're suffering difficulties with getting your drivers
installed.  I've always considered that to be the biggest pain when
installing new hardware.

Fortunately, finding the drivers you need to get your hardware to play
nicely with your operating system doesn't have to be quite as painful.
 Though several forums I usually read claimed there was no XP driver
for the OfficeJet v40, I found it rather quickly at HP:
