Any information and photographs of Yelta Mine, near Moonta, South
Australia. Also the names of any miners who worked there. The mine
began in 1861 and closed in 1877. In 1903 was aquired by a French
Company and operated until 1907. It was reworked between 1910 and

I have located a document about the Yelta mine that includes several
pages of history, several illustrations and photographs, but does not
include any miners' names. Would you be interested in this?

Dear Paigon,

I found very little relevant information (and no pictures), so I don't
post it as an answer, rather as helpful information/comment.

I have several managers names: Henry Hancock (and his son) were the
managers of the mine in its successful years. You can find mroe about
them in this out-of-print book, "Cap'n 'Ancock, Ruler of Australia's
Little Cornwall", Mandie Robinson
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0727006061/ltc-political

Other managers mentions were : Captain Eneder Warmington, Captain
William Warmington and Captain Matthew Henry East, Thomas Elder,
Robert Barr Smith
http://kadina.yp-connect.net/~ypct/features/hancock6.html and
Barkla, J.; manager Yelta mine Moonta ; [15]41

I found almost no miners' names. The only ones I found were
"The striking miners' leader", Mr Kitto
http://kadina.yp-connect.net/~ypct/features/hancock4.html ; which is
probably Richard Middleton KITTO or Robert Kent KITTO and the Verran
family

Thsi might come in handy looking for pictures,
