I am looking for information which would lead to being able to contact
an Italian doctor who has recently found a cure for brucella (aka
brucellosis or malta fever) in humans.

This is a specific doctor, and is alleged to have found a new form of
treatment which is highly successful, not just any italian doctor who
happens to have treated a patient with the standard antibiotics course
which is usually prescribed.

If no contact information is available, I will be willing to accept
information about his work containing his full name.

donovanski-ga,

I believe the doctor you are referring to in your question is:

Dr. Antonio Cascio at the University of Messina in Italy.

Dr. Cascio was the principle author of a paper on the use of a
combined-drug regime for the successful treatment of brucellosis in
humans.

Dr. Cascio's contact information is:

Dr. Antonio Cascio
AILMI (Associazione Italiana per la Lotta contro le Malattie Infettive)
Scuola di Specializzazione in Malattie Infettive
Università di Messina
Via Consolare Valeria n.1, 98125 Messina, Italy

His email address is:

acascio@unime.it

You can read an abstract of his study on brucellosis here:

Yes, thank you, I don't know if this doctor is the one we are looking
for, but it seems hopeful. The only information we have is from my
father, in South Africa, where several people have mentioned recent
success in Italy. This is the most precise information we have found
to date.

My clarification is not so much about the answer itself, as the
research you have done to get the answer: does your research point to
the possibility of other useful information being available as to
cutting edge therapeutic advances in curing brucellosis in humans ?

If I posted a fresh question for a hundred dollars, do you feel we
would stand a fair chance of getting our moneys' worth ?

Hello donovanski-ga,

I just retured from a trip, so I am catching up to my Google Answers
work. I wanted to let you know that I've seen your Request for
Clarification. I want to think on it a bit, and I'll get back to with
a reply in a day or so.

Hello again, donovanski-ga,

I hope the contact to Dr. Cascio turns out to be a valuable resource for you.

As to other possible advances in treatment, I'm afraid my research
into your question did not explore this, since I was very focused on
finding research results only from sources in Italy. There may well
be advances in other locations, but I did not make any attempt to look
for these in my earlier research.

You asked about posting another question. My advice would be -- Go
ahead! There is no real risk in asking.

Researcher here will generally not attempt to answer a question unless
they feel they have information that fully meets the client's needs.
If you are dissatisified with a preliminary answer for any reason, you
can certainly ask a researcher to look for additional information. If
you do not receive satisfactory results, you can request a refund.

Many medical questions have been asked and successfully answered here.
One that I answered can be seen here:

Another good example, answered by a different researcher, is here:

http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=361053

If these type of answers seems to be at the level of detail and
professionalism that would meet your needs, then I would encourage you
to post a follow-up question regarding any information are seeking on
Brucella.

But if you have any concerns about the process -- or would like any
additional information about the Dr. Cascio conection -- just let me
know by posting another comment here, and I'll be happy to assist you
further.

All the best,

pafalafa-ga
