I am searching for a large Onigiri Mold. (In lamens terms, it's a
plastic or wooden mold for compressing rice into shapes, usually
triangles.)

I can find places online willing to sell small molds that will make
rice shapes roughly 1-2 inches on a side, but I am seeking a mold for
making triangles that are roughly 3-5 inches on a side.

If a vendor is found that sells only via telephone/catalog/etc. that
would be fine too. (Does not need to be internet only).

Here is a photo: http://starbulletin.com/2002/06/19/features/art.jpg
The size of the triangle he's holding is what i'm looking for. It
doesn't have to be that thick however.

A square or rectangular mold this size is acceptable as well.

Shipping from Japan is acceptable, but I couldn't find any Japanese
sites in English.

Thanks.

FYI, i've tried extensive online searching for: "Onigiri", "Nigiri" (A
smaller mold for Sushi rice bullets), "Rice Mold", along with "Nori"
(A seaweed additive in most Onigiri).

The Hawaiians do something close called "Musubi", but that's a much
bigger mold (12" long), but I thought i'd include it for general info.

I'll keep adding more info as I think of it, thanks.

I think we might have come up with our own solution to this one here:

We're going to check tomorrow and see :)

Ok, we have checked the mold I mentioned in the last clarification and
the material is perfect, so is the shape, but it's too small. (It's
about half the size of the one in the above photo of the triangle with
wings.)

The reason I want a larger one is for those of us that are sloppy with
rice it's impossible to get fish/etc. into the center of the rice ball
unless the mold is large.

Question is still open.

Thanks :)

Dear lasivian-ga, here are two interesting sites:

http://www.houserice.com/houserice/spammuspresm.html

These are for "musubi" type molds.

Yes, I had no trouble finding the huge masubi type molds.

However they don't work well for anything smaller.

Is the Onigiri Oshikata on this page:
http://www.tasteofzen.com/shop/index.php?ctgry=0&set=5&q= about what
you're looking for? If not, there is a notice on the site saying they
are looking for suggestions for other hard to find products of this
type to offer. Good luck.

If you follow the links on the page in my last comment, they already
have a few similar products. These ar either not wooden or not
triangular. I'm not sure how big a concern that is for you.
