Why doesn't my family understand me and give me what I want?

Clarification of Question by stoogle-ga on 21 Jun 2004 09:08 PDT
Parents and siblings tend to not be able to express or feel
compassion. They don't seem to understand my need for it and do not
give it. Perhaps they do not understand there own need for it or value
of it. Why would family not give and take compassion?

I cannot begin to speculate in any detail about the family problems of
someone I've never met, but I would like to point out that
understanding you and giving you what you want are two different
things entirely.

Often a person who really understands us and loves us is aware of what
we NEED, which may not always be what we want.
