Currently, I'm looking for the real implementation of doorway pages. I
was told that Search engine optimiztion firm create a lot of doorway
(100-200 sites) to get the main site ranked in the top 10 or 20. I'd
very much appreciate, if any one can tell me exactly how to create
these doorway. I prefer to have some real sample site (main site and
doorway URLs) which is listed in the real search engine during the
answer period.
I know the benifit and risk of using this technique. So,please do not
convince me to give up and optimize the main page. I just want to know
what's exactly SEO firm do, even that is a search engine spamming. I
have read a lot of doorway concept in general. So,you might not
introduce the doorway concept in your answer.

I'm not a native english speaking. If you don't clear what did I try
to explain, please let's me know.

Thanks,

Hi skon-ga,

Thanks for using Google Answers. You have asked an interesting
question.

"Doorway, Gateway page or Entry Page" is one among the many search
engine optimization strategies, to get top ranking in major search
engines for your desired keywords/ key phrase, but every SEO will have
his own way of implementing it.

As you already aware of the risk involved in using this optimization
trick, I am trying to suggest you the best possible means to deal with
"doorway pages". After conducting an online study on Search Engine
Optimization techniques, I would for suggest for "Information Page"
than a "Doorway/Entry/Gateway Page" so as to reduce the risk involved
in search engine or directory black listing the site.

An "Information page" is a page, which is tailored specifically for
end users who find your site via both the search engines and
directories. They are built in to your web site and visually match
your current design.

The major difference between a doorway page and an information page: -

-- Doorway pages are web pages created specifically for search engine
positions. They are not created to benefit end users.

-- Information Pages, on the other hand, are specifically created to
benefit your end users because they provide information that your
target audience is interested in. Because Information Pages are a part
of your web site, they can help your site gain more popularity in the
search engines AND the directories.

-- Many people do not understand how doorway page companies work. They
create thousands of pages for a single keyword or keyword phrase. All
of these pages are fed to the search engines, polluting their indices
with unnecessary information. They are not pretty, and they often
contain so much gibberish they must be cloaked. End users would not
continue visiting a web site if they viewed these pages.

Hi Onlinexpert-ga,
Your suggestion is very helpfull. Frankly, I haven't intend to
implement doorway pages for my company main site. But, I got informed
from SEO firm, who purpose the SEO program to my company, said they can
use ton of doorways submission to boost our main site on specificed
keyword. We understand that our site might be banned or drop
dramatically after we discontinue a service. Personnelly, I just
curious that how that can do this thing. So, I'm searching for the
sample site or real site that use this technique. I heard a lot about
this, but no one can give me an sample. Can you give me some sample
site? Even that site was detected as spam and banned by Google.

I understood your concern that the technique might be miss-used,if
other people can see the real sample. My question is how can doorway
page make the main site get higer rank? As I know the doorway page can
optimize their content to get higher in SE, but it has to re-direct it
to main site anyway. With this technique the mainsite might not gain
any benifit on SE positioning, except the traffics, which are drived
from doorway pages.

Thanks.

Another comment:
In my idea, the word "doorway page" and "information page" is the same
in case that site owner does it in the rightway. So,what am I
understand is the "doorway" or "information" page will not make the
main site get higher rank in SE. But, the main site gain benefit of
those pages in link popularity and real visitor, who love the content
in doorway page and click link to the main site. Am I correct?

Hi skon-ga,

You have analyzed it correctly. SEO experts recommend Doorway /
Information page only if the site doesn’t have enough content on the
targeted keyword/ key phrase or if the keyword / key phrase is too
generic (too competitive).

Also you rightly pointed out that such pages only help drive traffic
to the main site and help in link popularity. But I don’t agree that
through such technique the main site might not gain any benefit on SE
positioning. Actually the whole purpose of SEO is to drive qualified
traffic to the site through search engines and directories. Every
thing depends on traffic, more traffic more sale. Information /
Doorway pages does it very well by driving such qualified leads to
your main site, but such page won’t directly help in getting better
rank.

Personally, my idea of an "Information page" is one, which caters to
the above-mentioned SEO techniques and also fits in with the site
theme. This makes search engine spiders/crawlers detect any thing
amiss, difficult.

Hi Skon-ga

I guess I have something interesting for you.You can have a look at
http://www.firesurf.com/tools/doorway-example.htm, which is a real
example of a doorway page, the intention being it has to link to the
main page of the site which is firesurf.com.

For some great information as to how they did it and more, click on
http://www.firesurf.com/tools/creating_hallways_doorways_portals.htm

I tried looking for information about more examples, and I found this
very interesting article. In this article, it has been explained
giving an actual example. Though this article is a bit old, but I
guess you might gain some useful info. Check this at

interesting technique

I hope this helps you.

I know that I'm not gonna get any moolah here, but please write back
your feedback on this. I'll feel good. :)

Thanks for your comment, your sample site is very very good. I know
that it's quite difficult to find the sample sites, which used the
trick to get their site on top rank of SE. Personnelly, I belive that
some SEO firm did this thing by using the some technique.
All of comments come to me tried to explain about the good and
acceptable technique of SEO. But,what I am looking is the bad site of
this. Just wantna know how the un-professional SEO firm did to boost
up their customer site on SE. To be expert in any area, I have to know
all about what and how the good guy and the bad guy do.

However, your comment and sample is very very clear for me. I'd very
appreciated your help.

Zeroone-ga,
I did some mistake by rate this article to the guy above
(onlineexpoert-ga). I think your comment came from him/her (forgot to
see the auther). So,the rating of this article was intended to rate on
your anwser.
However, the onlineexpert-ga comment is quite good. But, I just
waiting for his/her clarification. I guess he/she is working to find
out an answer for me. He/she also is valuable to get this rating.

Thanks

Hello skon-ga,
I just wanted to chime in and give my input. I have been a fulltime
internet marketing for several years now and have made hundreds of
focused pages or gateway pages. Not bragging just giving a point of
reference. Doorway pages are really not the perfect tool they were
several years ago. I made around a hundred for a client several years
ago. They worked fine for a while but have become less and less
sucessful. Search Engines became critical of the pages and penalizedd
patterns that they saw (my opinion). I suggest staying away from SEO
firms that are planning on creating gateway pages and especially
hundreds of them. They really are not that great anymore. I now
finetune the product pages or maybe a category page now. Having
useless pages just to attract attention does not work. Also most
search engines frown on it. If your competitors are annoyed by any
rankings you are getting they can complain about your site. For my
customers and my sites I create good clean html (no frames, java, asp)
and make the links a clean text link. Fine tune the pages that are
product pages and try not to overthink the whole idea. Read the info
you can find online like at searchengineforums.com. If looking for SEO
firms I suggest finding one that creates long term value and who's
techniques are so natural that they do not look like doorway pages but
just a nice clean website. - Good Luck
