Hi skon-ga,
Thanks for using Google Answers. You have asked an interesting
question.
"Doorway, Gateway page or Entry Page" is one among the many search
engine optimization strategies, to get top ranking in major search
engines for your desired keywords/ key phrase, but every SEO will have
his own way of implementing it.
As you already aware of the risk involved in using this optimization
trick, I am trying to suggest you the best possible means to deal with
"doorway pages". After conducting an online study on Search Engine
Optimization techniques, I would for suggest for "Information Page"
than a "Doorway/Entry/Gateway Page" so as to reduce the risk involved
in search engine or directory black listing the site.
An "Information page" is a page, which is tailored specifically for
end users who find your site via both the search engines and
directories. They are built in to your web site and visually match
your current design.

The major difference between a doorway page and an information page: -
-- Doorway pages are web pages created specifically for search engine
positions. They are not created to benefit end users.
-- Information Pages, on the other hand, are specifically created to
benefit your end users because they provide information that your
target audience is interested in. Because Information Pages are a part
of your web site, they can help your site gain more popularity in the
search engines AND the directories.
-- Many people do not understand how doorway page companies work. They
create thousands of pages for a single keyword or keyword phrase. All
of these pages are fed to the search engines, polluting their indices
with unnecessary information. They are not pretty, and they often
contain so much gibberish they must be cloaked. End users would not
continue visiting a web site if they viewed these pages.

Hi Onlinexpert-ga,
Your suggestion is very helpfull. Frankly, I haven't intend to
implement doorway pages for my company main site. But, I got informed
from SEO firm, who purpose the SEO program to my company, said they can
use ton of doorways submission to boost our main site on specificed
keyword. We understand that our site might be banned or drop
dramatically after we discontinue a service. Personnelly, I just
curious that how that can do this thing. So, I'm searching for the
sample site or real site that use this technique. I heard a lot about
this, but no one can give me an sample. Can you give me some sample
site? Even that site was detected as spam and banned by Google.
I understood your concern that the technique might be miss-used,if
other people can see the real sample. My question is how can doorway
page make the main site get higer rank? As I know the doorway page can
optimize their content to get higher in SE, but it has to re-direct it
to main site anyway. With this technique the mainsite might not gain
any benifit on SE positioning, except the traffics, which are drived
from doorway pages.
Thanks.

Another comment:
In my idea, the word "doorway page" and "information page" is the same
in case that site owner does it in the rightway. So,what am I
understand is the "doorway" or "information" page will not make the
main site get higher rank in SE. But, the main site gain benefit of
those pages in link popularity and real visitor, who love the content
in doorway page and click link to the main site. Am I correct?

Hi skon-ga,
You have analyzed it correctly. SEO experts recommend Doorway /
Information page only if the site doesnt have enough content on the
targeted keyword/ key phrase or if the keyword / key phrase is too
generic (too competitive).
Also you rightly pointed out that such pages only help drive traffic
to the main site and help in link popularity. But I dont agree that
through such technique the main site might not gain any benefit on SE
positioning. Actually the whole purpose of SEO is to drive qualified
traffic to the site through search engines and directories. Every
thing depends on traffic, more traffic more sale. Information /
Doorway pages does it very well by driving such qualified leads to
your main site, but such page wont directly help in getting better
rank.
Personally, my idea of an "Information page" is one, which caters to
the above-mentioned SEO techniques and also fits in with the site
theme. This makes search engine spiders/crawlers detect any thing
amiss, difficult.
